The Problem Worth Solving
The client needed to reach a younger market, but their existing mobile app was slow, hard to navigate, and lost a substantial share of new customers partway through onboarding. They needed a new native experience built from the ground up — without pausing existing operations or disrupting their live customer base.
How We Thought About It
We ran a two-week discovery sprint with the client's product and compliance teams to map the full onboarding journey and identify every drop-off point. From there we designed a new information architecture and validated it with user testing before a single line of code was written. Delivery was split into three two-week sprints: authentication and e-KYC, core banking features, and a final performance and security hardening phase. A dedicated QA engineer was embedded throughout.
What We Built
We architected a new Flutter application connected to a secure set of GraphQL microservices, replacing the legacy REST monolith with a modular API layer the compliance team could audit in isolation. We implemented a streamlined e-KYC process using on-device models that cut document verification from a manual review taking hours to a check completed in seconds. Biometric login and real-time fraud signals were layered in during the final sprint.
What Changed
The app launched ahead of its planned date. Onboarding completion improved substantially once the drop-off points identified in discovery were removed, and the app held a strong store rating through its first release cycle with no critical security incidents post-launch. Organic store referrals took on a share of acquisition that had previously been paid for.
